Thank You!

Thank You!

Thanksgiving is an invitation to do one simple yet sometimes difficult thing: be grateful!

Often we go about our lives focusing on so many things which are not up to par with our plans and we are centering on our disappointment in ourselves, in others, in what happens to us and those difficult things which surrounds us. However, the spirit of Thanksgiving gives us another completely different option; it knocks loudly at the door of our hearts to offer us the opportunity to practise giving thanks for all we do have.

I take this as an invitation to make a full assessment and use what in Yoga we refer to as: an “equal vision” and “a balanced mind”.  This lenses allow us to see people, situations, events and ourselves for who we really are in all its entirety.  That means, we don’t have biased lenses or a limited view which just focuses on the negative but we bring to the table all the attributes, teachings and gifts which can to mind. In this way, by learning to see with the “spiritual eye”, the eye of love, compassion, empathy and forgiveness we can, all of a sudden, start to see each person, each situation and ourselves under a very positive and shinny light. This encourages us to opens up to feel a true and deep sense of genuine gratitude.

Gratitude brings us the gift of being more, of experiencing more and of valuing more in all whom and which surrounds us. Therefore, we can finally experience true abundance. We feel rich inside out!

I invite you to join me in making a list of all your virtues and attributes while focusing on your strengths rather than in your weaknesses. Do a similar list for people in your life and situations which perhaps you have not been seeing in a balanced and equal way. Furthermore, if at all possible, tell yourself and others thank you from the heart; and see yourself and others flourish and burst into bright colors!

On this thanksgiving weekend let’s us all celebrate the many colors and virtues we value in ourselves an others and offer them freely as  gifts to others as we experience the magic of two very simple but equally meaningful words: Thank You!
